LEGO Stop Motion Ideas for the Budding Stop Motion Animator
Here are some LEGO Stop Motion Ideas you might like to try.
This LEGO Stop Motion Animation is super easy and only requires a base plate and different sized pieces of LEGO. If you don’t know what AGAR.io is, then play it here first.
Next setup a base plate and have the blobs moving around the board, gobbling each other up. Each time they eat someone else, they get bigger. What could be more simpler than that?
It’s a super easy LEGO Stop Motion Idea that anyone can try.

LEGO Minecraft Videos
Since the release of LEGO Minecraft, you can now make your favorite game into a LEGO Stop Motion Animation. And because LEGO is made with blocks just like Minecraft it means the two work really well together.
Best of all you only need just a cheap starter set to get creating with LEGO Minecraft.
And then start making your ‘Steve’ move and interact just like real Minecraft characters. LEGO also have many of the popular mobs you can use in your Stop Motion Video too!
LEGO + Minecraft + Stop-Motion is only limited to your imagination.
Here’s a quick LEGO Minecraft Stop Motion I created using Minecraft LEGOS.
LEGO Ninjago Videos
LEGO Ninjago is a massively popular LEGO Theme and the high action of Ninjas makes for a great Stop Motion Video. You might even have some basic LEGO Ninjago pieces in your collection already.
But of course for Ninjas, you really just need a couple of your favorite minfigs and a base plate, then you can start making an awesome fight scene. Or add in a background and have the characters interacting with the scene.
Here’s an EPIC LEGO Ninjago video to watch for some more great LEGO Stop Motion Ideas.
Here are some of Best LEGO Ninjago Stop Motion Videos on YouTube.
LEGO Star Wars Videos
Another awesome LEGO Stop Motion idea is to use the LEGO Star Wars theme in your Stop Motion video. LEGO Star Wars is arguably the most popular theme LEGO has ever produced and can make for some EPIC action scenes.
Of course, if you’re already trained as a Jedi Knight you won’t even need to move a single piece for your Stop Motion Video, preferring to use the ‘Force’ to move your pieces instead.
No, wait, doesn’t LEGO Stop Motion look like you are moving the pieces with your mind anyway? Surely it’s just a Jedi mind trick.
And once you’ve made a few LEGO Star Wars Stop Motion videos, perhaps you can play with some special effects and make an EPIC Light-saber battle between ‘GOOD’ and ‘EVIL’ MuaHaHaHa…

LEGO Movie Trailers
If you prefer classic LEGO and are really stuck for LEGO Stop Motion Ideas then maybe you can simply re-create and actual movie trailer for your first LEGO Stop Motion.
The great thing about re-creating an existing trailer in LEGO, is the voice acting and music is already done for you. You just need to swap in your version of the scene using LEGO pieces.
OK, this might seem easier than it really is, but it’ll teach you a lot about how to create drama with your Brick Flicks.
He’s an EPIC Trailer for Captain America so you can see what I’m talking about.
LEGO Friends Videos
Yep, LEGO Friends Videos are actually a thing and many have tried to animate LEGO Friends with varying success. And although the LEGO Friends MiniFigures are exactly suited to great Stop Motion, their accessory selection is beyond awesome.
For this type of LEGO Stop Motion Idea, you’d be best setting up various scenes with plenty of dialogue and featuring the detail in each of the sets. Then with limited Stop Motion, camera panning and zooming you should be able to create and interesting and enjoyable Stop Motion Video.
Here’s my lame attempt at a LEGO Friends Stop Motion, and it’ll probably be my last.
LEGO City Stop Motion
Of course, I’m not forgetting about the LEGO City Theme because it’s usually the first LEGO sets you’d probably own, due to its extensive range and low cost. Best of all LEGO City provides ready-made LEGO movie sets and can be easily made into a cool LEGO Stop Motion Video.
Although, you’d want to have some interesting LEGO Stop Motion Ideas, because LEGO City doesn’t have the same sort appeal as the big movie themes out there, or does it?
The LEGO Movie used a lot of LEGO City Sets to re-create this EPIC movie and proves LEGO City can be a lot of fun to animate.
Just use your imagination and what sets you have on hand to create the next BEST Stop Motion Movie EVER!
Here’s a taste of what you can make with LEGO City LEGOS.
So there you have it! A heap of LEGO Stop Motion Ideas to get you started in your LEGO Stop Motion Adventure.
But don’t watch too many LEGO Stop Motion videos before you get started, or you’ll never get to create one for yourself. And remember that all the LEGO Stop Motion Videos are usually the result of many hundreds of hours of practice, so don’t think you can’t create something awesome yourself.
You too can make awesome Stop Motion Animations if you’re prepared to put in the work.
But hey, if you make it fun then it hardly seems like work.
Good Luck and let me know when you create your first LEGO Stop Motion video
