It seems like LEGO is doing a catch up with LEGO Friends and releasing sets more frequently than some of the other LEGO themes and just in 2012 alone LEGO released over 30 LEGO Friends Sets to get the theme rolling. But they didn’t stop there releasing on average 30-40 different LEGO Friends Sets or products each year.
So why am I taking the time to list all these LEGO Friends Sets on this LEGO Stop Motion blog?
Well, it’s because the LEGO Friends Theme is hugely under serviced in the LEGO Stop Motion genre and with all these great LEGO Friends Sets I often wonder why. And girl LEGO sets are the perfect entry point for girls who just don’t want to play cops and robbers.
Sure the LEGO Friends Mini-Figures are never going to be as versatile as the standard LEGO Minifigures, but this shouldn’t stop you from giving them a try.
Here’s a LEGO Friends Stop Motion video I made from one of the LEGO Friends sets. And as you see, it’s totally possible to make stop motion animation with LEGO Friends.
But more importantly, this new theme has introduced a number of other custom LEGO pieces that we might have never seen without the LEGO Friends franchise.
LEGO Friends has indeed introduced a little fashion and some really cute animals into the traditional world of LEGO. And best of all they are all compatible with the LEGO system.
So let’s take a look at all LEGO Friends Sets on offer.
All LEGO Friends Sets – 2012
This cute little 200+ piece set was one of the first LEGO Friends sets available and it’s bright girly colors was an introduction of what we were to expect from this theme.
We were also introduced to Andrea and Marie. Two of the new LEGO Minifigure designs.
LEGO Friends isn’t all about shopping as you’ll see in the later sets as the girls of Heartlake City are very active indeed.
This set is almost 200 pieces and introduces Stephanie and her love of flying, albeit on the water.
In this LEGO Friends Set, we meet Olivia and her 200 piece Tree House.
This set has some awesome LEGO accessories that can be used in any LEGO Stop Motion to make your movies even more realistic. And you even get a cute kitty cat and bird.
A girl needs to get around right? And what better way to travel, than in style with this cool convertible. Although the imaginary world of Heartlake City is only small, vehicles are still a must in any LEGO play system.
And with some cool accessories to play with this 100+ piece kit is an easy build.
And we see more travel options for our adventurers in this 300+ piece camper set. Complete with motorhome, trailer, bikes, surfboard, picnic table and BBQ grill.
I did say there are always plenty of accessories with these LEGO Friends Sets, didn’t I?
One of the biggest LEGO Friends sets released is the Summer Riding Camp. And at over 1000+ pieces there is plenty of build time required for the budding stable owner.
In this set, we see a couple of new characters Emma, Ella, Theresa and another Stephanie.
And apart from the stables we also find a few horses in new LEGO molds we haven’t seen before.
Did someone say there’s a Riding Camp in town? Well, Emma want’s to ride horses too!
So Emma’s is ready to go with her new horse float and horse accessories.
And at a little over 200 pieces, this is a great introduction to horse riding without having to purchase the larger set.
When your girlfriends need a new look, the LEGO Friends Butterfly Beauty Shop is a must visit. Here Sarah will take good care of you in her Beauty Salon and this set also included Emma.
There are plenty of fashion accessories and makeup that are perfect for play in this 200+ piece set.
If you know someone who prefers looking after injured animals rather than fixing hair and makeup, then perhaps the Heartlake Vet is an ideal set.
This 350 piece set has plenty of animals and is managed by the local Heartlake vet, Sophie. This set also includes Mia and her pet puppy.
This is the perfect addition to any of the horse themed LEGO Friends Sets currently available. It contains Katharina who loves to ride around the equestrian track and Mia who loves working with the horses in the stables.
That’s 3 horse themed sets just in the first year, so you can imagine all the horse lovers are well looked after by the LEGO Friends group.
This LEGO Friends house belongs to Olivia and her friends Anna and Peter often stay over. It’s a whopping 695 pieces in size and is the first introduction of a male LEGO Friends Minifigure.
But this is just one of the many male characters who live in Heartlake City.
As a bonus, Olivia’s House can convert from a double storey to a triple storey house with sunning deck as an alternative build.
With this new LEGO Friends theme, LEGO introduced an Advent Calendar in its inaugural year and it was quite a success.
The Advent Calendar provided the owner with yet more LEGO accessories but with a Christmassy Theme. And of course, there was a Traditional Christmas Tree just perfect for any Heartlake home during the festive season.
This was one of the smallest sets released in 2012 with just 45 pieces. It contains Stephanie and her outdoor bakery setup.
It comes complete with mini oven, sink, and a delicious cream cake.
A cheeky little 43 piece set that contains a splash pool for Emma.
The pool has steps and a sunbed with Umbrella. The Accessories include a refreshing cool drink and pot plant.
Andrea loves to sing and this stage is the perfect place to practice for her concerts.
This 87 piece set comes complete with stage and sound equipment including; microphone, piano, boombox and stage lighting.
And there is also a special concert banner with Andrea’s name on it.
This 81 piece LEGO Friends Set is the place Olivia likes to hang out in her spare time. You see, she likes to invent and repair things and every inventor needs a workshop.
This set comes with cool colored jars, flasks, a blackboard and some DIY tools.
But Olivia has already been busy and built her own robot.
If you like cute puppies and like to groom your dog them this 64 piece set will be just perfect for you. It contains a dog and wash bowl, with plenty of ribbons to make your puppy pretty.
And there is a puppy dog house and tree with a bird nest in the truck.
Oh, and course you get Mia with this set.
Stephanie is regularly on patrol looking out for pets who need her help and she has this awesome quad bike to help her get around Heartlake City.
The set contains 73 pieces and besides Stephanie, you get a cute little bunny rabbit.
Emma loves making things and often designs her own dresses in her Fashion Design Studio. This studio has 79 pieces and a ton of accessories. Features include a design board, laptop, camera, smartphone, drawers and workbenches.
She even has a ruler to help her mark out the patterns for her dresses.
Playing down at the beach can be fun and Olivia has her own speedboat, to quickly get across the water.
Of course, she also likes to relax on the beach, and enjoys building sandcastles so this set is just perfect for Olivia on her days off.
Just 65 pieces in this set, but an awful lot of pretend fun.
This small set includes Andrea, a bunny and her bunny house. It contains 62 pieces in total and accessories include a bucket of water and carrot to feed Andrea’s bunny.
This set is a great inclusion to any of Andrea’s themed sets.
Mia loves to play music and her bedroom is full of fun musical instruments to play. Included in this 85 piece set is a bed, bedside table, and dresser. Instruments include a drum kit, and music stand, and a radio so Mia can play along to her favorite bands.
It’s a cool little set and complements the other music instruments already released.
This time, we find Mia preparing for the Heartlake Dog Show. The 183 piece set includes an obstacle course and jumping elements, with two cute puppy dogs. A wash-up and grooming area and a large stage and walkway to display the dogs.
And of course, a podium and 1st prize cup to be awarded to the best dog in show.
Can you tell, Mia likes dog’s?
